How many pressurize your valve cover. I was told my a nissan tuner that had ran in Japan 7 years, it was ok to pressurize the valve cover. As of right now my valve cover is pressurized, will this do any damage. Or should I put a breather on it. Nick

it would be best to put a breather on it, that way you wont be forcing oil down through the valve stem seals, and such

how can you pressurize the valve cover without pressurizing the whole crankcase? oil goes up and oil comes down. i think the pressure would go too. worse it may hamper the oil flowing.

come to think of it...i think it is preferable to have a vacuum in the crankcase to help minimize ring flutter/improve ring seal.

This is true...its also why its not uncommon in the v8 hot rod drag racing world to run vacuum pumps on the crankcase. They make more power ;)

I think I will put a breather on it tomorrow. I was talking about the whole crankcase, sorry if I said valve cover.

they also use that vacuum on the crankcase to run low tension rings so thatthey get less friction on the cylinder walls, Ive seen some of them do this by running a dry sump system and just keeping it up a notch above where it would be just efficient.

Pressurized line going to the valve cover breather is bad, bad, bad...

It forces oil out the front and main seals, etc...

Use a breather, or hook it up before the compressor if you must.

Also, your turbo oil drain will be pressurized and wont allow good flow of the oil back into the pan. You will most likely end up with an oil consumption problem in addition to being mistaken as a misquito control truck.
