Here's a somewhat stale citation on Donald's desire. I understand that he said yesterday his run is a strong possibility. If you do a little research, you'll see he offers something different than the typical cookie-cutter Rep. candidate. Spend a little time watching him, it's worth it I think. I'm not sure I'd vote for him, but it will certainly make for an interesting political show.

I'm putting the R/T eye in this guy and predicting that he will become a hot topic here over the next year or so.

Had to edit this with this news item. The thought of this happening should send chills up and down your spine.

Hey, I like Trump. Im not really familiar with his politics, but he sure is a great business mind, and really to be honest, politics aside, a good business man is what we need right now. I have to say, if Herman Cain runs, he has my vote HANDS DOWN no questions asked, BUT, if he doesnt run, and Trump does, then that may be where I look. Ive been wondering, who would Trump pick as his running mate, perhaps Brett Michaels?

True on the bankruptcies, and thats an issue, and again, he is definitely not my TOP pick. But then, he has done quite a bit more than just organize a community .....

A nice upside to a President Trump is that he has some executive experience, unlike the Chosen One. But bah, I'm not interested - too much RINO in Trump. Obama opened the field to all sorts of people that we would have thought were unqualified a few years ago. But hey, if a guy like Barry can get nominated and elected, anyone can take a shot at it. We have Republicans coming out of the woodwork for 2012. Amusing, at the least.

It's one thing for a candidate to become a celebrity. President Obama was unknown before he was a presidential candidate, but could quickly be called a celebrity. That's great, because that's at least a short term rise in the interest in politics, which can only help us.

It's another thing, to me, entirely for a celebrity to decide that, "Hey, you know what? I think I might like to be President." Now, maybe Mr. Trump's reasoning is a bit better thought-out than that, but that's the impression I get. That's why I start out being skeptical, as I was when Romney appeared in MA.

I doubt any of us could seriously answer this given our ages, but does anyone know, was Reagan in "celebrity" status given his acting career? If so that shows a "celebrity" can do a damn good job.

Having voted for him, I have to admit that I'm old enough to remember. In addition to celebrity, Reagan had political experience as governor of California and as president of the Screen Actor's Guild.

I'm not saying that it's impossible for a celebrity to lead. I'm just saying that, speaking only for myself, there's an additional trust hurdle. And in the case of Donald Trump, the hurdle's pretty darn big.

If Trump were to run, I'd like to see him do it as an independent. I'd like to see a true business leader in the white house, and I'd like to see him/her get there with as few political strings attached as possible. That means, even though I consider myself to be a republican, I'd rather Trump ran as an independent so that if he were to make the White House he wouldn't be beholden to the broken political system that runs our country right now.

Having said all that.. I'm not sure I like Trump. I know nothing of his personal beliefs. I also know that he's made use of the bankruptcy laws a number of times to help save his financial empire and unfortunately, that doesn't work for US Government.

Sorry Eikon, heard Trump on Hannity last night. He said he would run as a republican if he does in fact run. Im pretty sure he is going to, be basically said he was but he had to wait until this season of Apprentice finishes airing, because apparently a law required that no running candidate be involved in a television show, so after that is done then he will be announcing. He made alot of sense in what he had to say in the interview about his views. Now maybe he is corrupt or whatever I dunno, I dont know him all that well really, but I tend to echo the notion that, regardless of who, this nation NEEDS a good solid business mind in the oval office, someone with experience, and someone with balls. But like I said originally here, Trump is definitely not my top pick, he may get my support in the end depending on how primaries and such go, but for now my top pick is still gonna be Herman Cain. Up until yesterday he was in a state of "prayerful consideration". Yesterday he officially announced the kick off of his exploratory phase. Just to sum him up a bit, then I will link his site, but the guy is sharp as a whip. He has a local radio show here in Atlanta in the evenings, and I listen almost every chance I get. He is a strong conservative mind, a true conservative mind, not just a stuffed shirt card holder. He ran Goldfathers Pizza for 10 years, during its most profitable decade, in the 90's (of course I think that was probably just about every business's most profitable decade). He was a congressman, he's battled cancer and won. He's a black man (least important trait to me because race really doesnt matter to me) but still being black cant hurt his competition with Obama. He is going to run, from what I can gather and assume, on a basis of common sense, which is a bit broad of a notion I know, but that will be widdled into a more approachable platform soon, but common sense is the underlying trend.

Here's the link for his official page:

Here's a nice article about him on RedState
