Hi.Since I passed on that high-mileage '97 Q, I've been looking a little more at the first generation. One thing I don't like about it is the front end, even after the facelift (94-96). Do you guys know of anybody who has bought all the Nissan President front bodywork from Japan and succesfully installed it?

I'm thinking that it'd be as "easy" as getting a hood, lights, front fenders and bumper, painting, and swapping them for their American counterparts. Is the radiator support welded in or bolt-in? Would you even have to swap it out?

Thanks for any info.

Well, the headlights are HID with the beam kick-up on the wrong side.

You could get a F50 for what you would probably spend on this conversion to do it right.

Yeah.. blinding oncoming traffic isn't cool. hmm.

"You could get a F50 for what you would probably spend on this conversion to do it right."Funny.. that's actually my idea. I could get the early Q feel with great looks, more power, and it'd be overall a very exclusive car with that front. I'd hold out for a car with ~100k and pay a good bit less than I would for a similar condition F50. Then again, I like the F50 interior more, and I've heard that they're much more bulletproof...I guess I'll worry about it more when it's time to buy.

i thought the Q was the president...

if not, i know the cima or cedric stuff should fit onto the Q front with little work. BTW, by F50, you dont mean the Ferrari do you? cause F50>Q but im sure you mean something else.

He's referring to the series number:

G50 = 90-96QF33(?) = 97-01QF50 = 02Q +

Yeah, but the front bodywork/lights are different (see pic). Same with the rear taillight panel.

Heh.. I wish I could speak so casually about getting an F50 Ferrari. I thought Manix was talking about the second-gen Q. Now that I know he was talking about the 02+.. no way would this come out to the same price as an F50. Those parts in Japan can't be much more than $1500 shipped, right? Price difference is like $25,000 between G50 and F50, and $5-8,000 between G50 and F33. I imagine this is feasible for around 2.5- 3k, bringing the cost of a G50 "President" equal to the cost of a similar condition stock 97 (or so) Q45. Are these parts really that expensive, rare, or hard to install?

i dont think so, but i read on this site that the president is a lengthened wheel-base Q. the front end shouldnt cost that much to get and to install.

1997-2001 Q45 = FY33.

You guys need to look at the Japanese sites for Autotech, Junction Produce, and Impul.

I might be game for that, except for the goofy hood ornament.

Has anyone tried it yet?

P.S. found Junction Produce & Impul, what's the site for Autotech?

Does any of the stuff from Impul fit our cars?

I have been told that the President Front end has been grafted onto a F33 body... Let me dig thru my stuff and see if I can find pictures.. I believe I saw it also in one of my VIPcar or VIPStyle magazines...

Love it.

I have someone in Japan searching for a set of the B and C-pillar trim and chrome mirrors for my Q.
