Will switching off my wide band prolong its life or must it be removed from the exhaust.

I'm thinking I'd like to run it once a month or so.

You have to remove it if its not powered up. The WB sensor heats itself on startup. If you dont have the power on it destroys the sensor.

The main reason O2 sensors fowl is condensation in the exhaust get to them. If you have your O2 sensor mounted between 10 and 2 you should be fine. Iv heard they have a life of over 75000 miles. I would think that taking them in and out, and letting them sit would actually lessen the life of one. Anywho, they are only 75 bucks or less, i would just leave it in.

If you're concerned about the longevity of a wideband O2 sensor, remove it. Theoretically, once you're dialed in, you should not have to look at it again.

Unless you develop a vacuum or boost leak, or ignition misfire or a ground gets corroded...why not just leave it on!

It took me 3 hours to wire and set mine up with gauges and narrowband output to ecu. I wouldnt want to do that every month..

Well, since I only drive the car part time for half the year perhaps I'll just leave it in.
