Once you get off any left over gasket with a blade or something, what else can you use to get the surface as clean as possible to make the new gasket connection as clean as possible?

If you've cleaned off all the old material from the block and/or head, take some brake parts cleaner and wipe it across the block and head to ensure that they're both oil free, that's it! Don't be such a wuss:D Put the dang head back on there and don't worry. I hope you're changing the rod bolts and make sure you rotate the engine and inspect cam timing marks or else you will be sorry.
