Preparing to build the KA24DE to run mid to high 12s...I'm guessing 350whp?

Information on the naturally-aspirated KA24E and KA24DE engines.

so what exactly is needed for this?

I'm going to aim for mid 12s, since I will also be putting in a nice sound system into the car, so with the extra weight it should be high 12s.

I'm guessing I'll need like 350 whp.

Now I'm guessing the engine won't beable to hold that power well stock as a daily/winter/everything driver :)

So what are some things that I can do (I don't want to go overboard, but I do need to set out my budget :D )

I'm also looking for something with a nice thick powerband, so probally I'm already looking at studs, cams, pistons, and turbo kit compoents right? + Power FC for tuning :D

Sigh...SEARCH!!!!! I hate it when people come into one of these fourms and make stupid comments and ask stupid questions expecting someone to put a hundred posts in one and tell you everything you need...all because this week they decided they want to turbo the KA, next week it'll be a SR and a RB after that...

So you want a 12sec car with a stereo that will be driven daily including the winter? But you don't wanna go overboard or break your budget...there isn't very many 12sec KA's in the world, and you want us to tell you how to do it on a budget! AHHHhhh!!!

Oh and you can't use the Power FC with the KA, the PFC is designed for engines in japan...the KA isn't in any cars in japan...Not to mention its way over priced...

It all depends on your definition of budget ;) I said I want to plan my budget, that means a) I need to set a goal of how much money I need or want to save. Thus limiting what I can spend on anything else (which is almost nothing ;) )

I say my definition of budget is around $20K :) That's in the first year and a half, I expect to take 3 years to be finished.

An ECU is an ECU, I just need one that's fully tuneable, I haven't done too much research into the KA, but I'll have to dig deeper. hmmm maybe the Apexi avcr...

First off, **** that heavy *** system! No offense to you or any sound junkies, but I just don't can't get my mind around the fact that you want to ADD weight to a car.

(rant over)

Now, SCC ran a 12.8 with only 274 whp. So with a heavy system too, (shudders) you should be able to break 12's with about 300 whp.

Of course the fastest car in the world is a slow peice of ****, without a good driver, so make if you want the best times, make sure you can drive good too.

But haltec, motec, and SDS don't put adds in Super Street so he wouldn't know...lol...

I'll stop being a prick now, lol...maybe this will help guide you a little. This is my planned setup i'm peicing together now, my goal is 300rwhp with under 1 bar of boost...

T3/T04E 50 Trim 63 A/R $550Tail 38mm wastegate $2301G DSM BOV $50FMIC $300 (piping extra)JGS manifold $150MSD BTM $250+Walbro 255lph $60Inovative wide band 0/2 $340SAFC $3002 '91 248 intake cams(one re-pined for exhaust side) $?370cc Injectors $100Clutch $?havn't decided

I'll be doing all the intercooler piping and downpipe, as well as all the welding of the manifold. I'll be using a hacked MAF, and my buddy (electical engineer/dsm owner) makes a nice EBC for cheap so i'll save there...and i'll be making a much more free flowing intake manifold...i have a lot of this already, but i'm taking my time to peice it all together for ACAP(not asap, acap(As Cheap As Possible) it should get me well into the 12's before i bother with new pistons and larger injectors...

Thats about all i can think of right now(there's a few gauges, etc i didn't mention), but all those components will support much more than my current goal so when i upgrade my internals and injectors i can just turn up the boost and tune...

You want the exhaust cam buddy from what i hear the s13 cams wher 240/248 so....if you got the intake cam you only get the 240

But yea its alot on the driver, but also on the car about 300whp should put you close if not into the 12s. Jays car ran a high 11 and it was a bad run with 412whp and the IAP car runs high 11s with 46?whp that and wher you are and outside temp.

Oops...ah well i was bound to type something wrong. I don't have them yet so no worries. With some weight savings, good tires and a good driver its quite possible to get into the 12's with 300rwhp...i'll probaly need bigger injectors than those 370's though.

If deciding between HKS PFC and Apexi AVC-R for engine management.. I think you need to put down the tools and doobie, and step away from the vehicle. Also, the cams you want redline are indeed the exhaust cams. T.Y. in Arizona has tried all sorts of cam combos.. and likes his 248/240 for good low and high end compromise. You don't need to repin that exhaust cam for the intake either. You can simply rotate it around and it'll work. -Jeff
