Well my motor set should be here sometime this week. It was purchased from Dee ( a.k.a boost_boy) so the motor itself should be good to go. The main thing that I need is a stock ca18 cold pipe with everything. Also how bad will the car spit and sputter without having the BOV reciculated? My position is that Im pretty confident in the wiring and pretty much everything but the pipe work as im not sure what all the motor will come with. Also since my car is a Single cam should I go ahead and use it's knowingly good MAFS? Also if it doesnt include the lower harness do I just cut the green part off of the knock sensor and solder directly onto the sensor? I also may need the stock inlet pipings and such as im not sure if its there. As far as oil I was planing on using mobil 1 10-40. Before I start the engine should I spray a lil wd-40 in the cylinders? or leave them dry? Thanks everyone for reading my post and answering any questions. one last thing... Is there any thing that came up and bit your butt doing the swap that I should be aware about? Thanks again - Jake

do you have your dropping resistor for the injectors ?

for the mafs there some diagram to use KA24E maf on the forum, just search.

you can drop some oil in the cylinder but the most important is to crank the engine (15 20 Sec) till you have some oil pressure( buy yourself a gauge ).After that you can try to start the car. Remove fuel pump fuse while doing that.

im running with an open bov and i have no problem... but if your car is stalling because of it, just remove your vacuum from the bov. You'll get some compressor surge but it will be driveable. Stock CA were not equipped with bov .. its only an optional item on a stock engine .. but consider a recirculated one !

I have an HKS SSQV set very tight. At low boost shifts (under 5psi) there is surge, but that is low enough to not cause any damage really. I never really have a problem with it vented. Now, my old ARC Type 3 that I used to run made the car run like crap.

Run the 10W-40 synthetic this time of year, but as soon as spring returns, I run 15W-50. I run it all year long, but it never really gets cold here, and when it does, I let it warm up anyway to make sure all fluids are up to temp.

thanks alot guys. As for the dropping resistor for the injectors im not sure as I have yet to recieve the motor should be here today or tomorrow. I was told the earlier part of this week so sometime before friday. . Also, The BOV is a stock one and the only reason that I dont want to recirculate it is because thats one more hard to find hose that I'll need. I already have a boost and oil pressure gauge and all the required fittings and such, so im good there. Im pretty confident in the swap as Ive already swapped in another SOHC Ka in it already, Albeit wiring and such but I can pull the KA out in about an hour. thanks again - Jake

the thing about hoses is that except for the radiator hoses, you dont need to use the formed stock ones, just use some quality hose that you know what pressure its rated to

Will any hose that has the fibers in it work? like radiator hose from semis and big trucks?
