Preparing for Satellite Radio...

I have been told conflicting stories on whether my 2003 Q45 is prewired for the factory satellite radio.

My 2003 has the premium package and the screen displays "Satellite Radio Not Installed" when I push the "SAT" button on the dash.

Can someone please clarify this for me? Thanks in advance!

I am not sure what the exact answer is, but at least the above means that the satellite tuner is not installed. Now, whether this has any implications for the wiring, etc., that is not clear. If there is no satellite antenna on the car, you should be able to see that!

Thankfully the ugly black antenna is not installed on my car!

I am looking at the internal antenna that Grubbs is selling. It mounts behind the rear view mirror on the windshield.

I'm not even sure where the satellite tuner will be mounted. I think I saw somewhere that the unit mounts in the trunk. I'm still searching for more details...

If it has the SAT button, then it is probably satellite capable.

Ask Joe, but there was a certain cutoff VIN before which it could not be installed without changing out the whole head unit and navigation screen.

DuDro, did you find out more info on the satellite radio on the 03 Q45? I read that 03 Premium suppose to have satellite installed..
