Not sure how to put this into a quick, painless, and understandable way. Like what was mentioned, you jeopardize performance by going with a lower quality fuel. If that's no matter, then ditch the premium. If you're car is a lease, and you don't have to perform the overall maintenance, then I say go for it. But, for someone like myself, who has three mid 90's vehicles, they're all getting premium. After a measly 6 years in the auto industry, I've seen some very adverse effects of lower quality fuels. I am not only referring to grade, but also brand. I was also an aviation fuel handler in the Army. Fuel plays an obvious important role in any internal combustion motor. The cleaner, higher octane fuel will allow for better performance overall. That being said, it can also help sustain the life of various components in the fuel system/combustion process. I'd be willing to bet that your '11 G does not come with an easily replaceable fuel filter. Most newer vehicles have them as a part of the fuel pump assembly. I change mine out once a year. Using premium, they stay rather clean. On lower quality/grades, I've seen them clog and need replacing in as little as four months. That's all I'm going to put in to this right now. I may come back and add more later, if you still need convincing.
