Havn't got it running yet, but here's a couple pics of the TB's on the car. Know some of you guys are waiting for updates. Will post more as I make more progress.

What do ITB's do exactly, I've heard things about them, but I just want to clear it up.

Thanks

Think of it this way, your engine is a big air pump. It's job is to get air in and out as fast as possible ( put simply ) with your stock throttle body ( I can't remeber the size but I think 56mm ) will only let so much air in and then it has to travel through the intake manifold before it's used. With ITB's, if you add up the size of each throttle body ( looks to be about 50mm or so ) that along with short intake runners will tell the story. 200mm worth of intake area vs. 56mm, runners that are 12" long or more vs. runners that are less than 6". Nearly instant throttle response and you can really up the injector size. more + more fuel = what boys and girls? More power Set up looks tits, what type of TB are you using and is that a cut down stock manifold? You must be running a stand alone engine manegment system If not I'd like to know how you're contrlling things.

I guess this is not for a turbo setup then?

we need a base HP gain from this new cycle/itb fix, alone. SO do you have a known HP before you added your new mod?

Gabe: it's definately not looking better than yours. I wish!

240sx2soon: Yup, pretty much. Stock runners are about 21inches, and my setup is about 10.5" to the end of the stacks. I'm using a MegaSquirt standalone setup to control it all.

Shion: they are plug wires from a ford escort modified to fit in my spark plug holes. the ignition I'm using is from an escort, so I had to use those wires.

Loveless: nope, not for turbo. trying to make decent n/a power.

reinner: It's all custom DIY stuff. Throttle bodies are from a 2001+ GSXR 1000 and have a 43mm throttle plate diameter.

holy jesus...that's beautiful..i've been after some gixxer ITB's also, but i cant find anywhere that's got a junked bike motor...where'd you get yours?

...and i thought i was cool cause i cleaned my throttle body today

hey, i'm pretty sure i've seen an ITB turbo setup SOMEWHERE. isn't it possible? i mean, it looks easy enough, just plumb the cold pipe into 4 pipes...a bit of a biatch to do, but still possible...right? not meaning to thread jack, but does anyone know what the ballpark max HP and torque limit of a N/A KA on pump gas is? i'm debating a badarse N/A setup or turbo

limit of n/a ka, highest I've heard of is 298hp. However if you just want power, go turbo.

Dunno how much this has cost me but I do know it's not for the faint of heart. It's pretty much ALL diy. many many many hours of time.

Photobucket is being stupid, so I made my account there publically accessible.

The GTiR Pulsar has ITBs on the SR20DET IIRC. ALso, the RB26DETT on a Skyline has ITBs too.

What really attracts me to the ITB setup is the increased response. I can see how you can turbo an ITB (like the ITB's mentioned on the RB26DETT). That might be interesting.

alright, some more pics for you guys.

Little update first. All of the wiring is done now and all I have to do is shrink fit the trigger wheel for the ignition onto the crank pulley, then try starting her up. Hopefully I'll try to get her running by the end of tomorrow, but most likely sunday. Can't wait!

Ok, pics.

From above...

Made the block off plate for the distributor, which also doubles as a mounting plate for the new coil. (note, I'm hoping to get a nice aluminum one machined once I go back to San Diego at the end of the summer, but this will do for now.)

Bet you aren't used to seeing an oil filter and alternator sticking out like that are you?... haha

This is where the new harness is coming throug the firewall, as opposed to the larger hole to the right where the stock one went through.

The mess that my interior is right now...

that's it for now.

Cheers

do the throttle bodies off the gsxr1000 come complete 4 in a row like that or is it two sets of two throttle bodies or 4 individuals put together?

It Runs!!

After getting the crank pulley all finished and mounted, I got no spark. Did some quick trouble shooting and found I had 2 wires switched accidentally (DOH!), and still no spark. I switched 2 other wires and it fired right up. Turns out the wiring diagram was wrong.

Let me tell you, it sounds NUTS! havn't gotten it above 3k rpm, but even below there it sounds REALLY pissed. Oh yeah, and it's obnoxiously lound under load. I took a video of the tach revving it a bit with sound, but the sound quality is horrible, so I'm gonna wait until I have access to a better camera to post up a clip. It will be soon tho. Even with no tuning done and the extremely rich base map, it's extremely responsive. Can't wait till I've got it tuned, it's going to be a beast.

Here's a couple pics of the crank pulley with the trigger wheel freshly fit onto it. The heat tempering on the wheel looks cool.

And this was on our trash bin this morning... Banana slugs are cool. haha

SimpleEnigma: they come like that. However, they are 2 sets of 2.
