Found this lil thread @ nissanclub.com

are the altima coupe sales numbers that bad? I see quite alot now on the road. I see more altima coupes than the new accord coupes and solara coupes..

I think for its first appearance in the market as a coupe off the sedan, it's doing respectably well.

+ I dont see how the altima coupe will interfere with sales of the 350z or g35/g37.. 350z is a 2 seater performer rwd, and the G's are luxury coupes.

In the end. I just dont want to see this baby discontinued.

Mostly idle ramblings, I wouldn't give that post a second thought.

Don't listen to that guy! I'm sure it'll be here to stay for quite some time. The guy said that it was an experiement that didn't cost much to make?! Wrong. Maybe the sedan and coupe share the same drivetrain, but beside that and the interior, the car was totally redesigned from the sedan. They are not the same car. And after all the rave reviews about the coupe, I'm sure it's not going anywhere. CR actually rated the Altima higher than the Accord, now that's saying something because CR was usually biased toward Honda in the past.

Hell ya the only body panel the new coupe shares with the sedan is the hood , The frame is 3 inches shorter, and the interior is completely different. Also Nissan lead the automotive industry in 2007 with the most sales in the US. The Altima Coupe is selling at an average pace of 3200 a month. Thats 22,500 A/C's on the road already, and its put the Altima division sales up 47% from the prior year! This car is the reason they have done so well this year. They are not gonna stop the production of the A/C.

You can't compare the Altima coupe to the accord and solara. Think about what other cars are available through Honda and Toyota. Neither of them offer a 2 door coupe with RWD (affordable). So the only coupes that they can sell is what ever the hell they have.

I still say that nissan should've ressurected the 240sx with the altima coupe. Make it exclusively a 4 banger with RWD. I'm sure it would've sold much better.

That would've been great if they brought back the 240SX, but it would've probably been called the 250SX with the QR25. With Nissan's recent shift toward innovation, performance, and power, I wouldn't doubt it if they came out with some type of "affordable" RWD car in the future. They could've actually killed two birds with one stone if they made the A/C a RWD

I'll pass on what my cousin (sales manager for Rosen Nissan, Milwaukee WI) told me about the coupes. The fully decked out 3.5SE's sell very poorly but the 2.5 is doing pretty decent. Apparently, not too many people are willing to pay $30k for a coupe that's FWD, or at least not as much as a 4 door.... He didn't give me the impression that they're doing that bad. I'd like to see someone carepare the sales of the 350Z, G35, and similar sporty cars of that price.

They can't keep them at my local dealership. They are the largest 1 story nissan dealership in america and they have 2 a/c's on the lot right now haha. Its crazy the rate they are being bought down here.

We work with dealerships across the country and every single dealership we talk to says they can't keep them on the lots. Now, many of them report back that the majority of the cars being sold are base model 4 cylinders with very little add-ons. In one dealers own words "we can't even get floor mats on most these cars."

WI must nor be big on car sales. The dealer i bought my car from cannot keep them on the lot. EVERY coupe that hits the lot is already spoken for. I waited 2.5 months for mine on an order.

True But is it not a good thing if they discontinue it??? value wise??I know it would put a damper on stillen ect ...making aftermarket parts and such. But would our cars not be more valuable?

Besides mine, I've only seen one on the road. My question is why are only the CVT's available if I don't see that many on the road. Is Nissan really pushing those, or was the sales manager not full of crap when he said more people want the CVT's so that's what they order?

My self, I learned how to drive a stick at 11 and have been doing it for 26 years now, I couldn't imagine owning an automatic/CVT. The loaner Altima that Nissan gave me while my LoJack is being installed is boring the hell out of me and I've only driven it maybe 30 miles...
