Looks to be interesting, wondering if anyone has tried it... for $40, you might be able to talk someone into installing it for a case of beer if you happen to know someone who does that. Even for $40, i hear its more about patience than it is about actual skill...

Still, most of the time anything that seems easy ends up being a waste on the Q...

DIY tint isn't worth it IMO. Did it on my truck - it was a real pain in the arse. I consider myself to be pretty good at doing detailed things and let's just say that it was good enough for a beater truck, but I wouldn't dare touch a real car with it!

I ran a tint shop for about 5 years and have more then a little experience in this field. Do it yourself tint sucks because it isn't heat shrunk or formed to your windows. Thats why some of you had such a hard time with bubbles or "Fingers" as they are called. I could probably put together a group buy on some pre cut window film that has been heat shrunk to the car. My old store uses Formula One film and a Plotter Cutter and since I have a G50 he can use that as a pattern for shrinking. But application would still be up to you. Let me know, if there is enough interest I well get an estimated price and time.

the bulk of the cost of professional window tinting is LABOR,and it is this highly skilled almost artist like labor is what separates the ok tint jobs from the great ones that look factory and last for years. In my opinion, window tinting is not a process you should shop by price at all-quality install of a quality{full metal,or even better-ceramic} film is worth top dollar if you are to be satisfied in the long run.

Agreed.I have a friend who is a window tinter, and I have seen the bad jobs done by other stores that he has had to fix.....Metallised tint is definitely the one you want to go for if you want the tint to look as good in 10 years as the day it was applied. It's worth the extra money.

Pass on this. Listen for word of mouth to find a local installer that will do a thorough, detailed job. Like upholstery work, the parts cost is too small to matter.
