Hey guys! So it looks like im going with a set of precision turbos for my build, probably the 5431E MFS or 5454E MFS unit, my question is can anyone forsee any problems with these over bolt on ones from say SZ or Z1? I know I may have a fitment issue when it comes to the frame rails but so long as I don't have to beat them in too much I should be fine there. Manifold issues maybe? Or severe fitment problems? Just looking for input, Thanks!

I will have 3" downpipes and my current 3" straight through exhaust, I was contemplating the msp manifolds but likely get those at a later date

i was thinking the same thing my self man! but for the price and peace of mind i went with gt3071rs, im sure the precisions would fit but after lots o research and thoughts of diff turbos i went with the tried and true. if i were doing precisions i would go with the 5454, either way you cant go wrong for the price! i was looking into the hx35w which is in the same hp range but i guess too large a frame...

Im getting a pretty good deal on them in a package deal with a set of both the tial wastgates and bov's from california. After my research too, i was told the 5454's would be better in a couple ways so thats probably what I will end up going with. I dont really need the ball bearing set up so these will work fine. I was originally going to go with the new gtx series but these are over half the cost of them!!

Does anyone else have any input on this choice???
Maybe performance wise or has no one else here gone outside of Sz, z1 and jwt?

I'm in the same boat as you, however I've never looked into the PT's before. These seem like good units, but as you mentioned before about making room and fitment issues, do you know how big they are overall compared to say a GT28 or GT30? Personally I would do some custom tubular manifolds similar to what Ash did on his if I were gonna run these.

And like mrmoose said, the Holset hx30's aren't too far from the PT's you chose, and you can get them for about $300 used give or take. They're just damn hard to find. They're bulletproof and very cheap to rebuild as well.

And then that leads me to another topic, VGT anyone??? :naughty:

I was primarily going to go for the big ol' dirty single but cannot find anyone to make the manifolds, otherwise I certainly would. We had the design thought out, as much research as we could possibly do without removing my motor and sizing up everything. I'd have the manifolds going to the from for a front mount on left side near the rad.

Not looking to get used turbos, anyone I know who bought used ha nothing but problems with them, one guy had his rebuilt 7x before it completely detonated on him, and that's with rebuilds using new parts.

I chose the PT's because of the reliability I've seen around here. All the 600whp+ cars around here run them and have zero issues with them this far

any links or more details on it? I dont have anyone here that will make manifolds, They can do everything else but no manifolds. I would pay to have it made and shipped to me then I can take care of the rest of the piping. It was really the only thing stopping me from getting the single
