Has anyone added a satellite received to an '06 that is pre-wired for satellite radio? I called the dealer about it....what a scam !! They told me it is $795 to add a Sirius receiver to my '06 coupe. This included the receiver, the antenna, and the harness. So what the heck does pre-wired mean??? Who would ever spend that kind of money, when you can go to Best Buy and get a stand-alone unit for $100 or less?

Is this dealer on crack, or is that truly the cost of adding it?

Also, I could have sworn I saw a pic of someone's G, with the sat-radio info displayed on the Nav screen. Is this normal? If not, where is the sat-radio info displayed? Hopefully not only on the lame Bose display.

Thanks in advance.

Dude... please.

It is the dealer's lot, (no pun intended), in life to get as much money as possible for the add-ons. That's where the profit margin is the highest. Almost any after-market add-on can be had for less after you leave the dealer. Where they make the sales is with the fact that they can 'reduce to the rediculous' and show you how you can 'have it all for just a few bucks more per month'... which, of course, translates into much more by the end of the term of financing than if you had gone and done it somewhere else.

Each of these can get Sat tuners that plug into the factory harness for much less than you would pay at the dealership. You'll need to install it, but it's pretty easy if the car is pre-wired, which I believe yours is.
