Going to order my CA from boost_boy in a few days and I am starting to do a bit more serious homework on getting this motor into my car. Mostly the questions I have should be pretty easy for you guys since most of you have this motor and/or configuration of parts. So here we go......

Clutch Replacement----------------------Resurface stock flywheel

Use a KA24DE clutch, dremel to fit. (is this the final word on the clutch replacement?)

Intercoolers-------------Stock sidemount from an SR with piping work, i.e. bolt up?

Using a stock front mount from a Starion/Conquest and fabbing up my own charge piping.

Anyone know of a bolt on CA FMIC available in the states?

Turbo Upgrading and Downpipe------------------------------------I was looking into the possibility of using this combination.SR T28GReddy o2 housingGReddy/Heavy Throttle SR downpipe

Any complications using the SR downpipe on the SR turbo? Will it bolt up to the cat or will I still have to cut and spin it around to fit?

Blow off Valve---------------If I come across a CA SMIC, does it have the BOV in it like on the SR's or not?

If I go the Starion/Custom FMIC any should the BOV be vented back into the charge piping to avoid stumbling?

Motor Mounts---------------My stock ones are trashed. Will KA/SR motor mount inserts fit the CA?

Shifter-------Same as a KA/SR if I want a short/solid shifter?

Fuel and Boost Levels-------------------------Run 10 psi on stock pump and be OK?

Get Walbro Fuel Pump and crank it up to 14?

How much boost is safe boost on the stock fuel pump?

Thanks for taking your time to answer these questions for me. I have been an all motor Honda guy for 5 years now, and making turbo power is all new to me. I really don't plan on racing the car, just daily driving everyday fun. Big boost is not a priority right now, and high horsepower numbers only feed the ego. So I am looking in the neighborhood of 200-225 to the wheels with everyday reliablity. Again, thanks for your time.

1) not sure on how the KA clutch works out...you'll have to have someone else answer that

2) The stock sidemount for an SR should bolt in the same place but im not sure about the piping, i would think it would be ok but don't quote me.

3) If you have the SR turbo extension along with the turbo then you won't have to cut a thing.

4) Yes, it is a good idea to recirculate the BOV.

5) All the motor mounts are the same.

6) Same shifter.

7) I would not run the stock fuel pump no matter what boost levels you are running. A healthy KA pump might do ok at stock boost but if you crank the boost up or if the pump is getting a bit worn you will run into problems.

Good luck with your project

hey, man when ever im on line just IM with what ever questions you may have! dont worry about bothering me, im usually just doin more research and what not! also clutch hmm i have a upgraded one but i have noclue what it is since it came on the motor, ill find out and get a deffinant answer ! my ca sidemount didnt have a BOV, you can get a bosch recir valve, or a reall BOV, does it need to recir? no not really mines open air it just back fires after shifts every so often! only stalled out on me 3 times since i got it in, i couldnt get the car to run correctly with it recirc so i ran open air!! motor mounts you can run any 240sx mounts, or nismo my self im goin to but some here n the next month or so my mounts are squishy and the motor and transmission are all over the place. shifter any short shifter for the 240 should work !

when ever you are ready let me know like a week in advance im up for helpin out ! we should be doin a few swaps this summer for people, and if your in the marker for and custom stuff or upgrades just let me know our "shop" should be online by mid june with some stuff to hook up the nissan family !

For the KA clutch... the disk fits good (225mm) but the clutch cver will not, unless you have the dowell pins resized.. and if you dremel any off of the entire assembly, make sure you have it rebalanced... if not you may develo[ a cracked crank due to the vibration. I have seen it happen. For fuel... you will run out REAL quick... buy a walboro for like $100. Other questions have been answered.

SWEET! I'm up to hubcap status now!

Thanks for all the input guys. This is the only site that I know of that is dedicated to the CA18det in the states, so I check here often.

Jon, I downloaded your FSM for the CA and it kicks ***. I am going to compare the wiring to my KA manual to see how much more wiring it is going to need and what needs to be changed.

Those were just the biggie questions I had for now, just easier to change clutches, turbos, and whatnot's when its out of the car.

BTW.... I heard back from boost_boy, looks like it's mine!

I installed a KA24de 91 clutch.. 4 puck sprung street. Its rather on or off but its still very streetable, supports like 360 pounds of torque (not too great but good unless you go huge). It was like 280 bucks from enjuk.

Jon,

Hit me up sometime man. I am off work Thursday and would like to make a trip up to Dayton to check out your car. I want to see how one of these things looks installed and also go for a ride if I can :)

BTW... I just got done printing out the FSM for the CA18DET... 6 hours, 2 cartridges, and 2 reams of paper later, I've got it ready to go! Just waiting to hear back from Dee on shipping.

Quote »Just waiting to hear back from Dee on shipping.[/quote] I will definitely get it done tomorrow. It's raining here in beautiful south florida and no one wants to talk about shipping for some reason. Needless to say, you'll have your quote via email tomorrow.

Your engine will get delivered to your door and will be off-loaded by the transporter:D Any questions, drop me an email. Not a bad shipping deal, is it?
