Next year I might be moving to Michigan. As of right now I am in California. Okay my last smog test was 6/17/07 and smog is every 2 years. That means my next smog is due before 6/17/09. Please correct me if I am wrong.

I want to turbo my car before going to Michigan. So is it possible to pre smog my car (my car is completely stock right now). So lets say I smog it right now and it passed. 10/21/08 but they send me the form to turn in my smog check at 5/17/09. Will they take a smog check done at an earlier time than the notice date?

The smog test is regulated by the califiornia DMV. And its regulated to the point where u cannot take it early, even if you have the receipt and all, they'll ask you to retake the smog test. i had the same idea too by going KA-t but i and the same idea and i got shut down by the smog station, they told me that it would be a waist of cash because they would ask you to do it again.

Depending on when you move next year, you can always pay the fees & just ask for an extension (you can get 1-3 months usually) - they give you one of those paper things you can stick on your rear window to show you've paid your registration but haven't passed smog.

Another thing is to just ka-t your car anyway & return it to stock if you need to smog it. There's ALWAYS something you'd need to end up doing after you installed your kit. The initial setup and first few months are seldom done perfect where you'd never need to remove the manifold, etc.

another thing your able to do is screw the stock smog check, search online for a california certified turbo kit, install it like usual and go to a state rev to ok your car. I hear that Greddy is the company for that. look into it.

when u say good for 90 days, do u mean + or - 90 days from when its due? and if its +90 days, do you automatically get your registration or rules still stand? and 90 days is 3 months. that a cool as$ minute to not be driving your car. therefore, is there a loop hole around the cali smog system or do the swapping parts rule still stands?
