Just wonder what everyone does to sure up there care before a long road trip.

Normally, I have the oil changed and I check all the other fluids and such. Check the air pressure in the tires & the spare and make sure I've got my spark plugs and other little tools I might need.

Edit: 200th post, heh.

I like to give the V a good wash and make sure the windows are clean.

I do that too. My girlfriend things I'm crazy since it's gonna get all grimy on the way down, but I like showing off my shiny V driving down the highway. Also, I put the nose mask on when driving on the interstate but since it's supposed to rain the day we're driving down I wont be able too

Have DH check tires, oil, fluids, etc. Pack, unpack, repack. That's clothes. Charge phone, mp3 player. Fill water bottle. Obsess over what's been forgotten. Hit the road. Go back home for forgotten items. (I usually get 2 blocks from home before I do this).

In the 1970s I had a volvo, and not all small towns had volvo parts. My mechanic would make up an emergency kit of this, that and the other volvo parts for me. If I needed something, I'd pay him when I returned home. I never used anything, but it was nice to know that I had some of the things my car might have needed.
