Hi, I am in the market for a new car (replacing my Volvo 2001 S60 T5M), and have had my eye on G37 ever since they came out. I have found a certified pre-owned 2008 G37 S Coupe 6M with Premium and Nav. with 15K miles listed $34,880. However, I know that this car was sold at auction by another dealer who previously had the car listed at $32,788, but was uncertified. I also know what the current dealer paid for it at auction. This same dealership has a similar car with 22K miles but listed $33,888. Edmunds' TMV is $35,387. What is a reasonable cost/mark up in US$ to certify?

Welcome to Nico!!!

Not sure about the $$$ to certify, hopefully somebody will chime in.

I was looking at a NEW 08 G37 coupe AT with prem. for $34,200Also, a NEW 08 G37S coupe AT with Nav/ for around $36,000Have you looked for any 08 left overs??They are being sold for 2K under invoice and the 09's are about $1.8K more on the MSRP. Actually, I think the 09's have $2K back from the factory, so would only be 1.8K diff in a left over 08 and 09.Except, Infiniti is also offering .9 up to 72 months, but you loose the $2k...

Didn't know if you were aware of the deals on the 08's.....

Certified pre-owned =1. New Tires2. New brakes3. Thoroughly inspected for problems4. Interior reconditioning

It is all small things that they do and then jack up the price with $3-4k.I am about to buy 08 G37 and asked for a list of stuff that made the car a CPO. The most important I remembered I listed above.

I am not getting a CPO G37, It is just a marketing trick. The car comes with manufacturer's warranty no matter CPO or not.

Infiniti are not that bad with increasing prices for CPO vehicles. BMW and Mercedes are notorious in making money of CPO vehicles.

Boko, what you said about CPO makes sense. I am just trying to get my ducks in a row for negotiating since I have a lot of info on the car. I don't mind the dealer making money I just don't want to get cacked.

I am also considering a new 09 G37 Sedan Sport 6MT. MT is a must coupe or sedan, but I get the impression MT sedans are kind of rare birds. That was the case when I bought my Volvo also.

Don't get me wrong, I really like the coupe. I took a new one for a spin while I was trying to hunt down the 08 and it was a dream. But that little voice in my head is telling me that it is impractical. I look at that trunk and although I seem to remember reading somewhere a claim that you can get a set of sticks in there, I would have to see it.

SVTCobra, have you had luck finding new 08's? It seems they are few and far between. I had an unfortunate run in with an SVT Cobra, but that's another story.

Thanks Guys.

Yes, I found exactly what I (actually the wife) wanted (white with prem), but decided to not pull the trigger. Would have been $34,200. Or, $36,200 with .9 x 72.Wife really likes her G sedan....I drive her nuts always looking at deals!! Right now is the time for a left over 08 if you can find one. Might take some calls.Good Luck!!

After a long hiatus, I am back. I was able to negotiate off the price and purchased the aforementioned car (I dubbed Silvia 2, with the Volvo S60 being the original Silvia...guess what color?). Drove her for 4 years and was looking for her replacement when I got into an accident. Long story short, just purchased Silvia 3, another pre-owned 2012 G37 S 6MT with 5K miles. I kept my wheels and tires (brand new Michelin Pilot Super Sports) from Silvia 2 as I liked them better.

Sounds like a good deal. We will be trading up our '07 G35s this summer to either a '11 or '12 model. Probably going X this time.

I didn't think that CPO cars had new tires/brakes...I think that may depend on the dealer.

Well, the dealership turned my old car pretty quickly. They listed it for $24.4K after giving me $20K trade in. I checked the carfax they had posted with it and there was no mention of any accident, even though they did the repairs. When I dropped by the dealership to get the infiniti clips from my old keyfob and drop off the car manuals they told me that the car was missing the spare.... Not my problem but suggested they check their collision shop.

you are correct, tires and brakes less 50% they will repkace it, the original poster is looking at 15k miles, most likely they were at around 70%..
