I've applied vinyl graphics before, and contouring can be a problem for the inexperienced (i.e. me)... I ended up with a few air bubbles on the first set I did, but the second set went much better.
Tint might be harder because it is thinner than vinyl graphics.
Also, professional installers "tuck" the tint into the window edges so there is no seam between the edges of the glass and the tint.
I personally think it would be better to pay the extra $$ for someone to do it. That way you can yell at them and make them redo it if they screw it up. On a DIY kit, you only have yourself to blame.
