I have a 91 fastback, 124k on my de and will be starting to buy stuff for a turbo build. The motor is stock with the good old timing chain guide rattle. I have new hoses, belts, plugs, cap , rotor, wires, 300z fuel filter, decarbed intake, flushed coolant system, new thermostat. I will be checking compression in the cylinders first (no running problems) before I start buying stuff. First off I will be doing a timing chain and inspecting oil pump for wear, then I was looking at just buying an egay inter cooler, t3/t4 turbo and manifold from a reputable company, walbro 255 pump, 550 injectors, nismo FPR, JWT ECU, Z32 MAF, BRM exhaust or Circuit sport, and not sure which boost controller. I am looking for 250-300hp and want to get a donor block to build from scratch while I play with my first turbo car. The second motor will have all the internal goodies for around 400+hp. This car is my daily driver right now but I only drive 6 miles to work and sunday drives in the country for relaxation. I am not a ricer and dont care for street racing. I am looking at getting into track course racing (if you call it that) at our local airfield landing strip on the weekends. Any suggestings on anything and if I am missing anything? Thanks for the advise. The gathering of parts will be regulated depending on good commision checks and side work. My wife is going thur RN school and has 3/4 of a year left til grad.

I work for a nissan dealership thats why I am going for nismo and 300z parts. I already have a whole rear end from a 300zx and the brakes. I have tein springs and KYB AGX struts with wicked tension rods. Looking at control arms and toe adj links as well.

Looks pretty good, your missing a few turbo related parts like a wastegate and a bov in your list, but im sure you know you will need them.

BRM exhaust is really nice, i have one and i love it.

Other than that your setup looks fine, go for it.

Thank you. Finally a build that is realistic in all ways. All this sounds good.Check with Florida240sx, he's a mod here and a Ka-t guru. He has a t3/t4 kit for sale that could save you some cash, and you can trust that he won't steer you wrong. The rest of your kit, you could get here in the classifieds or off the bay.Good luck and keep us posted.

Your plan sounds very similar to mine. I'm in Newport News, hit me up when you start building.

Thank you for yalls imputs. I have been a nissan tech for 6 years now and just over a year in the parts side of the dealership. I know alot about cars but not the first thing about turbos other than the basics. I have been reading, researching, and asking questions to the guys at work that have build SRs. I have one guy that has a 400hp sentra that he drag raced years ago. He as since gotten out of it. (too expensive) I just want a fun car for now and I have always wanted to build a motor from scratch. I have a few projects going on so the car is not getting any funds right now. I am throwing $20 here and there in my dresser for the future turbo build. The built motor will be done some time in my life, I promise. But for now the wife has got to get through school first and start working.

As far as buying used stuff I am alittle cautious about that. I dont mind it for some things but I would have to see it in person before I would buy something. Working on cars for half my life I have heard and seen some horror stories about used parts. Not saying there is anything wrong with them or anyone on here not being trustworthy, I'm just cautious.

I like your attitude. If you do some serious research, and thrifty shopping, you can have a really fun car to drive for@ $2k or less. 240's are light and built to handle, so you have got a good base to start with. For $2k you can put together a good ka-t set up that is a blast to drive. 300hp is a pretty easy reach for a Ka-t and that is a lot of power in such a small package. That will spank most cars on the road today.G/L with it.
