A little while back I posted when my egi-inj fuse kept blowing. The car would not start. I had determined there was a short somewhere and gave up assuming it was a big problem. Today I was feeling adventurous and started poking around again. I fiddled around with the injector plug wires, flip-flopped some relays, then check for the short. It was gone!

So I picked up another fuse and put it in. The car started! I was pretty pumped. I thought all my problems were solved. Then it came time to turn the car off... I removed the key and the car kept running! It dropped a little in rpm’s but wouldn’t die. It’s like the car was possessed! It wanted to be driven and refused to turn off. I didn’t give it the satisfaction and pulled the inj fuse. The car stopped.

What could keep a car running even after the key is removed?ECU? Ignition coil?

I've seen this a few times, it's typically a short in fuel pump sending unit, remove the cover for the fuel pump and inspect all of the wiring. It's typically pretty obvious where the issue is. Unfortunately, it also fries the ecu when this happens.

If the wiring is fried in the fuel sending unit, is it a quick fix? splice in new wires, or order new parts?

silvertwin definitely knows these cars better than I do, but generally when a car as run in it's because it's getting voltage when it's not supposed to, the most common part failure to causet his in most cars is the voltage regulator, which on the Z32 is internal to the alternator, if you find nothing at the pump, it might be worth disconnecting the alternaotr and sssing if the problem still persists with the alt disconnected, the car and be started and run for a while on battery alone, long enough to see if the run on continues should be no problem at all

Can a relay break in the closed possion? Maybe that why the car would stay running?

I would look into that ignition switch and/or wiring since when turning the key, you cut the switch and therefore, the power. Especially after installing a new head unit. I've seen people route wires all through the ignition system and &*@# everything up. One guy drove to my house. He had everything, and I mean EVERYTHING staying on.

Is yours immediately after installing a stereo as well? If so, you may have tapped into a wrong wire with the wrong ground and are sending voltage where it's not supposed to go.
