I've done on a few cars. This is tremendously helpful if you're getting ready for a major job.
I believe it's ok if you follow a few precautions.
Every part under the hood is designed to loosely waterproof. That is it's desinged to work outdoors.
Few parts are designed to stay wet for very long.Few parts really enjoy temp shocks either.
Here's my recommended method.
1. Get the car to the place with as cold engine as possible.2. Cover the distributor (if exists) and crank angle (these are key to the quick resart)3. Disconnect the battery.4. Wash it good. Keep in mind that from the top you really can only do so much below the top 16 inches. The soap is your friend. If you're washing in preperation from a major job, remember to wash the bay walls and railings good too5. Rinse with water, none of that spot free stuff.6. start it and run it (driving, until EVERYTHING is dry)7. The particular types will want to apply electrical gresee to all connectors. (the infiniti desgined connectors all have water barriers built in, but these can fall out)
