It says that it supports our RE4R03A transmissions, but I'm wondering what all is needed to wire it in?

How does the TCU communicate with the ECU, and what information is shared inbetween each other?

I'm willing to bet that the transmission is controlled like any other electronic one - it uses the TPS, map, kickdown switch, and maybe a few more small switches.

Will the engine ECU work fine with the TCU unplugged, so you can run the PCS transmission controller as a standalone? Will it just throw a CEL for the abesnse of TCU communication?

Interestingly enough the ECU doesnt even throw a code, ive DRIVEN (yes DRIVEN) my Q without a TCU in, just to say I could... It just stays in 3rd gear.

The ECU will store a code for "No transmission communications" and you'll get the message in the left corner of the IP.

The PCS TCU WILL work for our ECUs. I talked to them at SEMA, and they are very knowledgeable and helpful. One of these days I may buy one myself.

Wow! This is what I've been looking for. It is a little pricey though. Hope it gets a little cheaper later so I can afford one.

Awesome. Glad to know that it won't have any adverse affect on the engine operation.

Do you think PCS will have a wiring harness for our transmissions to make their TCU plug and play?I just got done re-wiring the rx-7 that this motor is going into, and making another wiring harness from scratch isn't top on my list right now.
