Im not sure if this is a powersteering issues but Im thinking it is. Whenever I turn the wheel, it makes a winding sound similar to the one if you hold your steering wheel at full lock. Except, this sound is whenever I turn the wheel?

Is that possibly a belt too tight, or slipping? Or does that sound like a power steering pump dying?

Recently I had a problem with my steering colum hitting the turbo elbow, but I replaced a broken motor mount and now it doesn't hit, but it makes that sound now?

rb25det btw.

check your fluid

sounds like when you filled it the pump was dry, then once you moved the wheel by driving it bled all the air out, now its low on fluid. mine made the same noise while bleeding and filling after installing it.

Well, I noticed my ps fluid bubbling when i had the car on, so i took off the cap let it run for a bit, filled fluid up to the tip top of the line, it was about 75% before. Now its eems fine...?

the only way to bleed it is to turn the wheel from one full lock to the other.

according to the manual... jack the front of the car up 2-3 feet, then bleed the system via turning from one lock to the other... worked perfect for me

mine did the samething. i took out the stupid ps fluid which i had in there, some generic kind and replaced it with some good ATF. It made the noise still but slightly, now it's gone.

I had the same problem as well.

I took the fitting off the pump, primed the pump twice and all is good now. Also, since I did gut the rear of my powersteering pump since my RB came with HICAS, I also took out the rear plug and primed the back of the pump as well. Once I did this, it didn't whine anymore.

I had this problem after I replaced the power steering lines with the DOHC lines. It was making similar noises and was sucking the bottom drain hose in the resevoir dry. I got some heavier duty hose and also got a converter so that I could increase the diameter of the hose for when it goes into the power steering pump. I had previously just used the larger sized hose and clamped the hell out of it. This seemed to work much better and no noise. Maybe you should look for that.~ANDREW~
