powersteering or not?

Well I never post on these boards, but I am very interested in s13's and eventually want to get one. I dont plan on drifting but I just had a question thats been on my mind for a while. I was curious what most drift cars use for steering? Do you keep stock powersteering or remove it and get a manual rack/pinion? thanks for responses.

iv been sliding a rb powered car all summer with no ps. when you get into wide angle slides its hard to pull the wheel back off full lock. im looking into what its gona take to get the ps back in the car. its deff gona be worth the work.

i have looked into maual racks. there was a thread where a guy got a hyundai manual rack to bolt in, but i havnt found any real proof of any manual swaps. if any one finds one let me know.

Power Steering is something you SHOULD keep.

I really don't understand why anybody would want to remove it (for drifting). It just doesn't make sense.

^mhm The ability to easily quickly turn the steering wheel is a big benefit.

this times 100

if you ever wind up doing high speed s***, or getting large wheels up front its VERY hard to turn off of full lock at speed.

I've done both, ran a dry rack for over a year, it sucks, one finger to correct is better then putting all my 200lbs into it. Beyond having to be strong as f*** to pull out of full lock at speed, even with a huge steering wheel it was almost impossible to do. However the road feel was friggin awesome without ps..

Keep it for the love of God. Soooo much easier to correct and stay sideways with PS.

Do you guys still think even if using a manual rack it would be hard. I have an s13 thats rb swapped and the rb pump keeps blowing my racks. I did however find that i can use a ka dual cam pump om the rb. Should i proceed to get an s14 ps rack with the dual cam pump ? And ahould i keep the ps cooler as wel.

I have run my rb25 setup with a rb pump in a few of my s13 chassis. never had a problem with the pump blowing out the seals on the rack. i think you have something else going on there dude.
