hey guys, i poped my hood today cuz i felt something was weird.. and than i saw the powersteering fluid started to leak out uncontrollably from the black "container", i think it is powersteering fluid... it is bronw and it was bubbling out like crazy, what could be cause of this problem? I live in the desert, and it gets over 95+ degrees here, maybe is heat causing?

240sx has power steering in the round metal can and it's usually colored Red or clear. And it doesn't bubble no matter what you do.

sounds like you or someone else put the wrong liquid in the power steering resevoir. Is it the dark green/brown container with black cap right above the air intake?

"power steering" fluid causes 240 steering systems to leak, switch to ATF and call it a day. Also you prob need to replace the worn out hoses and the sh*tty oem clamps to actual hose clamps.

Yeah that's ur PS resevoir. ATF = Automatic Transmission Fluid which is what the 240s use for PS fluid.

Actual PS fluid is thin and will cause leaks like ddgserzerzser3490 said above me.

Also replace the hoses that goes from the container tank to the power steering up with new fresh hoses (that can resist oil) and replace the clamps with better clamps. (The ones that use flat metal strips instead of metal rings)Clean off the spill over from your car because it can eat off the paint.problem solved.

You can replace those hoses easy, just get oil resistant hoses from a local part store.

Me too. The broad that had the car before me had a King size bottle of PS fluid under the seat when I bought the car.

When I replaced my leaky P/S pressure hose I originally filled it back up with P/S fluid but switched to ATF like the manual says, I haven't had any problems since.
