hey people... i was wondering has anyone been in the recently new celica gt-s... or even just a new celica ?... in the middle console they have a switch that unlocks and locks the doors... and i thought that was pretty cool... i was wondering is it possible and how would i be able to make a switch like that and put it in the ashtray area ?

run the wires to the ash tray. Its bout that easy. providing you do a good job at it youll never have to worry bout n e thing.

1 -- just get to the switch you want to relocate. find out what gage the wires are (size and what there made with. 1 solid or many small wires)

2 -- remove the wires from the switch, you may have to desolider them. (not a big deal, just take a solidering gun and heat up the solider untill if becomes gelly like an take your wire out.) **NOTE you will need to mark the position of ythe wires on the switch before you remove them**

3 -- "extend" your existing wires by solidering the new wire on to the ends. let cool 30 sec, than put on heat shrink to cover the metal.

4 -- now run your wires to where ever you want them (try to avoid heat hence in will melt plastic)

5 -- slide on all your other peices of heatsink. reattach the wires onto the switch. shrink the heat shrink on after waiting 30 sec.

** lable your wires right. it will likly not work if you dont. **

6 -- play with and show of your new switch. -- MoNK

TotaL 5- 10 BEANS + solidering gun =25 bux

its realy pritty easy just dont leave any bare wire since the chassis is the gars ground/negitave -- MoNK

not sure... so i can leave my door lock switch on the door itself... and put a new switch ?... thats what i wanted to know... im not sure if you understood what i wanted... but i guess that was my fault...

wanted to leave the door locks on the doors... and make a lock/unlock switch that i will place in the console... meaning that the door locks on there already will still function properly... and that i will be able to use my new switch to lock/unlock... so thats three locks total... so would that make anything different ? or should i follow the same procedure ?

thanks a bunch, cant wait til i have the time to do

sure, you can do it that way too.

the switch may run you a dollar at radio shack or somewhere similar, but it can be done without any problems :)

yea my bad i didnt know u still wanted them. the only thing u have to do different is dont disconect the wires on the switch, just add 1 new wire to each prong and run it to where ever.
