so i finished poppin in a new driver side door, actually its off a 180 so i have to passenger side doors..after swapping wire harnesses from the old to new, i had both windows working pretty good. For some reason though, randomly one or the other window just stops working, for a while it was just the drivers side, then i would slam my door and it would start working again but now my passenger window wont ever budge? has anyone had a similar problem and if so, how did you fix it or what did you find out. there really isnt a lot of information on this site or others about power windows. If worse comes to worse i might think about converting both sides to manaul crank windows..yeh old school.. anyways, i hope someone has an answer for me before i turn my 92 fast back a little more ghetto than it is already. peace

I have a 1993 and it has both manual and electric, had the same problem on oneside,it would get stuck and stop working so i had to use the manual, then removed the door panel put some wd40 on the motor and taped th switch back and forth till it got loose, and work good since, have them hook up to some cheap autozone swith, so when i press the down button both windows go down, and same up,is just proably your motor,so try that wd40 and try to move it manualy back and forth till brake loose

unusual symptoms. it has to be something that both windows have in common.look up window in tutorial link in my signature.

sounds like a loose wire. ground at the switch on driver door or power coming from the ignition switch. how about the switch that controls passenger window. does it have the same problem

check the amp for the window motor... this is usually the cause if the window just randomly works. take off the door panel and you'll see a little box about 3"x1" with a plug attached. unbolt the box from the door and open the end of it to pull the amp board out. then check all the solder points on the back side. its a common prob in 240's. just re-solder any broken or cracked points and put it back together. should work fine after that. p.s. Ive had to do this with both of my 240's one s14 and one s13!good luck man!

haha yeh thanks bro, ive heard of that scenario before, its not the case for me though, i took that apart last night and its looks mint. plus my driver side has been working with no problems. its just odd that my passenger side doesnt even make a noise of effort. i think im gonna just focus on making them manual..ive always liked that style, one less thing to go wrong.

The only thing I know about the car is that it use to be a cop car,and when I got it the sales man said the power windows where broke,so they use the manual ones,so i figure they did it,but they work good I use the eletric more than the manual, the only thing that was wrong was the switch.

Passenger Window Lock button?

If not that, and it's not a loose wire... take off your passenger door panel & apply power directly to the passenger motor - there's a 2 wire plug. Applying power one ways makes it roll up, other way makes it roll down.

Then from there, start tracing backward.
