I have searched and couldnt find a good answer therefore I'm asking...

I have base model '89 Fastback and I really need power windows...

If I wanted to add power windows, would it be easier to try to get 2 doors out of a 240sx that already had power windows or buy the parts and add it to the door i have already? If I wanted to add the parts to make mine use power windows, what parts would I need for the conversion? Thanx in advance

You will need the motors, regulators, wiring, switches, and door panels. I would also check to make sure that your wiring harness has wiring running to the doors to power the windows.

Given all of the parts you need to do it, it may be cheaper to buy the entire door. Doors are usually pretty expensive though($150 and up).

No, it is usually $150 per door to buy the doors. That is junk yard price. Too bad you don't live in GA, I know where quite a few of these cars are sitting in yards.

My guess is about $100, maybe a little more. Probably about 50 for the motor and regulator, 25 for the door panel, 15 for the switch. Plus any little miscellaneous stuff. This is per door of course

WTF dont do it!!! I have power windows on my 89 and let me tell you... manuals are better. Sure its nice to lower the passenger side window with the push of a button, but the regulators CAN, WILL (and did with me) die on you. The cost of repairing these is considerably high. Ive found myself wishing for manuals a lot of times... especially since the window i had the regulator replaced in is slowing down again raising or lifting...trust me and save yourself a lot of peace of mind! :p

hey if its worth it to you, go for it. However i wish i had manuals, for the money. Its going to first off:~cost a a$$ load to install and find working parts

~cost a a$$ load to fix when something breaks...im reluctant to even post how much it cost me for ONE godam window :(

~when they break, u dont really have much of an option to fix or not to fix. Power windows rarely break in the UP position.

I can see the chick thing tho...unless you already have a gf. Then that forearm exercise u make her do every time she wants the window down might come in handy ;)

edit: oh i got to be very familiar with the internal workings of the power windows...installation by your self would be next to impossible, without a plethora of specialized (see miniturized) tools. Its packed like a can of sardines in that door, and the pulley cable is a ****ing ***** to hook up right
