i have a 1991 240sx SE fastback, the passenger side window just stoped working on me and now its stuck down. this is not really good bc someone might break into my car and there is just a garbage bag over it so no water gets in because its raining here and im getting nervous. i checked the window lock, but i dont think it works because my driver's side window works with the lock on or off. so i just dont knwo what is wrong.

My best guess is the window motor or regulator has crapped out on you. Sorry bout your luck man :(

This happened to me on my driver side window. I'd noticed my window had been moving kinda slow/odd and sure enough, one day i was rolling the thing up and about 1-inch away from being shut, it stops, never to work again.

Think the grand total to get it replaced was $500 cuz I simply could NOT figure out how the damn doors on our cars (s13, 91 fastback se, like yours) work.

soooooooooooooo.... unless someone else here knows how to dismantle the door entirely (just snap the door-panel off and im sure you will see what i mean) I'm-a-thinking your going to be stuck with an unfairly expensive repair :(

sorry

I had the same problem with the drivers side but the passenger side still worked. The problem was the window regulator (small black box on drivers side under door panel) just take the door panel off and see if u can find a new box at a junkyard.

If you think that it is your window motor that went, it is not too hard to take it out. If I remember correctly you will have to remove the window regulator with the motor. Just take it slow, because it can be a *****, especially with the larger windows, like 240s.

my drivers side went out. it turns out the that cable snapped. i need a whole new power window regulator. cost me quite a bit... and yeah i freaked out too about having my window down so i took it to the shop right away when it broke.

question. when you press the up/down for the passenger window, do you hear the motor working?

My broke too. But it was just the switch. 10 bucks junk yard. But if you have a friend w/ a PW 240 , ask them if you can borrow. It is the easiest and cheapest test you can do.

Speaking on this topic my driver window didnt want to roll down for the longest time. So I disconnected the door and the wires that go into the window switch one of the wires inside the connectors was loose. I got a super small screwdriver and fixed it.

And is it just me?? Or do the bolts where the window screws on to the windowtrack get loose. I know about 5 people that had to tighten those bolts including me. And they are a ***** to get to.

Junkyards have plenty of window motors here. :D
