Take a look at pages EL-264 to EL-267 (ignore EL-266, it's for the passenger switch) of http://www.nicoclub.com/manuals/Pathfinder/2001/el.pdf

At the bottom of each page is a harness labelled "D6", and all the pins are shown in the main diagrams with the color codes (i.e., "R/B" = red w/ black stripe; "L/R" = blue w/ red stripe). This appears to be the order, but double-check:

1. yellow/green
2. blue/red
3. blue/black
4. white/red
5. black
6. <empty>
7. green/red
8. yellow
9. white/black
10. black/white
11. white
12. green/white
13. red/black
14. green/yellow
15. green/white
16. pink/green

This is the excact problem that I'm dealing with. I'm really intimidated by it and have decided to take it in. Can any shop do this, or should it go to the dealership?

My fear is that they'll say I need to replace the whole harness. Nate, were you successful getting it fixed?

Thanks!

I believe most shops can do it. Look up a shop that rebuild alternators and related electrical work. Your audio guy or autozone/O'Reillys guy might know where to point you, but they should have a decent handle of rebuilding harnesses.
I've done it myself, and I am no electrician.

Otherwise, hopefully someone who has first hand experience with this issue on a Pathy lets us know. Please don't leave us hanging if you find a solution. Thanks

I found a solution. Just give $250 to the Nissan dealership and the problem is solved.
