Driver's power window is stuck about 3/4 way down. For about a month the window would roll down ok, but would occasionaly get stuck on the way up. Giving it a little shove would help get it moving again and it would usually go up the rest of the way ok. It did not always get stuck in the same spot and it would sometimes start to halt and continue ok. A couple of weeks ago the window stuck in the down position and will not budge. Sometimes after working on it for a little while, It will move just slightly (perhaps 1/8" -1/4" but then stops).
All of the other windows and the door locks work fine.
The way it failed, plus the fact that it will still move a little leads me to think that it is a bad motor. Does anyone think this sounds like a regulator?
While I debug the problem and order parts, does anyone know of a way to get the window up?
Assuming that it is the motor, (please speak up if you disagree with my diagnosis):
1) Does anyone know how to remove the motor without removing the window? I have tried and just can't get to the mounting screws.
2) I don't want to pay the $275 that the dealer wants for a new motor, but I havn't found a new or remanufactured replacement for it at another source. I have found several used motors at various places online, but would prefer a new or remanufactured one. Does anyone know of a source?
3) Is there any way to get the window up before I fix the motor?
Thanks for any help that you can provide.
