This just recently happened but I when I rolled down my drivers window to talk to a friend and as I was leaving I tried rolling it back up and the gears or something wasn't catching.

I took off the door panel to expose the gears and the motor appear to be working fine it seems but its not catching the window to roll back up, but it catches it when I want to roll it down.

I didn't want to get too far into pulling the door appart and I'm having a hard time getting around the stickly plastic so I'd like to know if anyone has had this problem, is there a particular spot I should be looking at to find the problem and is there a way to fix it? (if worse comes to worst I could always get a manual)

I have the same problem on my driver's side window. I think is the plastic gears inside are stripped or something, I took mine apart and couldn't really see too well because it's a convertible with extra hardware. I just don't roll mine down all the way and give it a little 'help' coming back up. Other than replacing the sliding mechanism that has the gears/cables on it I don't know what else would specifically fix it. I plan on just replacing my doors all together soon anyway....if I could find a set of doors with manual windows I'd actually prefer that believe it or not.

I assume since you refer to the motor the're power windows? Take off your door panel again, but this time take a razor and remove the plastic by sliding the blade betweem the door and plastic, slicing through the adhesive goop. Try re-lubricating the track first, and then watch the track move. Several things could be wrong since that probably didn't solve your problem. Make sure everything is snugged and not loose. Check for bent tracks, check door glass sub-channel adjustment( bracket that holds glass), check for stripped gear, check to make sure the motor piece that DRIVES the gear isn't broken because the motor will be powered and working still but unable to engage track movement(problem on Honda's). Check for binding in vertical tracks, seals, ect.............
