I read all of the previous power window threads and coudn't find one like mine. My windows work, randomly. Sometimes she works, sometimes she doesn't.

I hear the relay clicking, but no movement. If i keep clicking and sometimes bang on the spot on the door panel where the relay is, she moves again. What could this be????? I don't want to spend 150$ on a motor. Thanks

Loose connection somewhere. Start poking around until you find it.

I had the same problem. I just fixed it the other day. It's the window amp going out. Easy and cheap fix, buy a used one off of someone parting out their car on Nico.

i assume you have 1991 240sx. A couple people have mentioned that the amp is what goes and it clicks when bad. The switch, amp, and motor are in the driver door. There is no relay. I assume you are talking about driver side window. Not sure why amp responds to you hitting it.

There are detailed instructions on how to test the amp in factory service manual(section BF. pg 12) You need a multimeter.

The relay is in the amp. It clicks all the time - not just when it's bad.

I knew there had to be a relay in there somewhere because of the clicking noise. (Yes i do have 91 240sx and its on the driver side) So that rectangle black box is the amp? I removed the connector cleaned it up and it worked right away, next morning it stopped working then that afternoon it worked. Wierd as hell.

If anyone has an amp i need it!

Out of curiousity can you open the amp and see if you see any broken solder joints? Particularly on one of the pins of the connector...

I'll check it out when I get home today.. The window hasn't worked in 3 days.. this is still probably my amp right?

give the motor 12v to make sure it is not motor. or check with multimeter to see if there are 12v at motor. All you know is that the switch works because power is getting to amp.

It's the amp, I had the same problem. Window wouldn't work and I'd hit the door panel and it would work. Then the door panel punch trick stopped working (and my hand was getting sore) so I replaced the amp and it works fine now.

That's what I wanted to hear. dubbs, I'd recommend that you try the same. That makes three or four cases now where the bad amp turned out to be caused by a bad solder connection inside. It pops open pretty easily and if you've never soldered before this is a great first project as it's quite an easy task and if you mess it up you haven't lost anything for trying.

I don't honestly recall how it opens. I recall a medium-sized flathead screwdriver and a small gash in my palm being involved, the latter due to stupidity and impatience on my part.

pry in between the black face where the connector is and the white plastic around the black face. The black comes out but the pin connectors stay in. after the black piece is out, the pins and circuit board come out together. Atleast thats how mine was.

hey guys i got the same problem on my 95 240. drivers side wont work, i hear a clicking sound, you know the story. I tried taking out the power amp, but i cant check out the circuitry board without breaking the connections to the sunroof and the lock all windows button. Do I look for a burnt connection on the outside or the inside of the box? I removed the white part and I see the board, but it doesnt look like anything is burnt, but I'm guessing I need to look under the board....well I dont know where to look so anyone have any suggestions? thanks

It would be on the bottom side of the circuit board. I'm not yet sure whether this common little problem carried over to the s14, so I'm very interested to hear how yours turns out.

I am not familiar with the s14 setup, but it doesn't sound like you're looking at the amp.

Thank you very much for letting us know. Until you came along I was relatively sure that this problem only occured in the s13.
