I have a 93 240sx. My driver side window will not go down. I replaced the switch and nothing. The relay still makes noise when i hit the switch. I also put power straight to the motor and it went up and down. Anyone got any ideas???

Sounds like the amplifier has gone out - the exact same thing just happened with my car.

The amplifier is a small black box that has 2 bolts to attach it to the door, and a harness that plugs into it. Source one out, and that should solve the problem.

You definitely need a new motor. It will go up and down when it is not under load, but when it is under load, the motor is too weak to push it up or pull it down.

How can you say that? He mentioned that with direct power, the window goes up and down, but when wired correctly it does not. To me, that says amplifier, not new motor. If it works with direct current, it should work with a working amp.

In any case, amps are cheap, and if it doesn't work, then go for the more expensive (and difficult to replace) parts.
