I've searched on this topic and didn't find the answer. My 90 240sx power windows - driver side was working intermittently, now doesn't work at all. Passenger side is fine. I pulled the door apart - when I push the switch, there is a big click like a relay closing in the box inside the door. But the window motor doesn't move. How can I tell if its the relay or the window motor? If itsthe relay, do I just replace it, and where do I find the part?

Thanks

Relays are relatively cheap compared to the price of a new power window motor. You can always head over to the parts department of your local Nissan dealership and have them pull up your car on their computer.

Also you can use a light tester and check if the relay is good or not.

the click your hearin is probably the window regulator binding up.all nissan models are famous for breaking the window regs. I suggest you seperate the motor from the regulator and try running it. you can usually see where the reg is broke.near the top of the regulator there is a plastic guide which holds the cable in place that plastic usually breaks. look at that and where the regulator spools the cable it is most likely mis spooled and overlapping it self causeing it to bind up.

I checked the relay with a voltmeter and it was good -by undoing the connector between the relay and the motor (only a 2 wire connector). When I reconnectedlo and behold the window worked again! The doorwas replaced after an accident, and the wiring futzed up, so I cleaned it up about 6 months ago.I tried to strain relieve the connector this time - hopeit continues to work.

Thanks for the advice (but it would be a bugger toget the motor out of the door!)
