Driver side power window is not working. Parts guy said 9 of 10 times it's the switch or the regulator. Anyone know how I could tell and/or test this?

THANKS!

if the motor sounds like it is running when the glass is not moving. its most likely the regulator. if the motor doesnt make any noise when the glass isnt moving its most likely the switch.

When I flip the switch.....nothing. So I should start with the switch, then the regulator, then the motor?

yea if the motor is not making any noise at all when you flip the switch that is the likely failure. if you had a test light you could confirm it at the motor harness. voltage will go to one wire in one position and then to the other in the oposite position.

if you dont get voltage at one of the 2 wires when flipping the switch the switch is shot.

Well the Power seems to be good. When I flip the switch I hear a click inside the door also. Like it's turning on but no go. I'm going the cheap route and hoping it's the regulator. I'll let everyone know how it goes.

You could just touch the hotwire to the other side of the switch and see if the window moves. If it does then the switch is bad. If nothing happens then its past your switch to the regulator/motor.

OK, so I get in this morning and hit the button (hey you never know) & of course nothing. So I’m driving down the road and without thinking I roll down my window and spit. Just then it hits me, “That isn’t supposed to happen!” I tried it a couple more times on the way to work and it is operational! What happened you might ask? Well it beats the hell out of me………

Well I can roll it down about 2 inches no problem. Any further and when I try to go back up it makes a sound similar to throwing a live duck in a blender (not pretty) & it doesn't move without a slight tug. Better than nothing I suppose.
