it would help to know what kind of car and what year it is. door panel removal is pretty simple. open the door and look along the bottom, sides, armrest, door handle, EVERYWHERE for screws. if its an s13 there should be like 4-5 of them. not sure about s14. once you think you have them all out, start pulling the door panel towards you. if a side is stuck, STOP and check for other screws. its a pretty simple task, and should only take a minute to get the panel off.

The hardest part is putting it back on...

Make sure you line the plastic snaps up with the holes - the first time I put mine back on I just started banging on it and broke a couple of the snaps and the replacement ones I got were a different size.

Do what ^he said to take it off, there are 2 screws-one in the front of the panel where it touches the dash (it's under a little cover) and one in the bottom of the plastic piece with the buttons on it.

i'd recommend one of those too, getting the c-clip off the window crank is a ***** and a half if you dont have the right tools.

it's pretty easy... my harness that plugs into the PW amplifier used to get disconnected so i had to take off the door panel and plug it back in . bascially i just took the one screw off at the front of the door. and then the surround off where the door handle (inside) is and then grab the bottom of the door panel and , pull out and up and there you go. there will be a harness attached at the front, and that should be it. putting it back in is extremely easy as well, just hook the top of the panel on the window sill thing, and line up the green plastic screws and give it a smack with the palm of your hand. and put the door handle surround and front screw back in... good to go. i have an S13 hatch with power windows. good luck.

While we are on the subject of this, just last night my driver side window won't go down. On the driver side control, the driver side won't go down but the passenger side windows will. On the passenger side control, the passenger windows go down. I located the p/w amp on the driver side door panel and it makes a clicking sound when i try the driver side windows. If you slightly shake the p/w amp, something moves freely around inside. Does this seem like a faulty power window amp? The local dealership wants $156 canadian for a replacement part. I removed it all together and still the driver side windows are stuck up while the passenger side windows go down. Thanks.

maybe it's the switch? could be the amp if something is rattling around in it. but if it's making that clicking noise, then it's at least trying to work. my guess would be the switch. but i could be wrong.

i will give that a shot. too bad the driver side/passenger side switches aren't interchangable. Good thing is they are a hell of a lot cheaper than the p/w amp . Sileightysomeday, I read in a different thread that your passenger side headlight wasn't working? Did you manage to get this fixed? I am having the exact same problem and not sure where to start. I replaced the light itself but didn't help.

I use a shop towel and work it between the door and the handle to remove the c clip. Or a gasket pick.

If your window amp clicks wen u press the switch but the motor does not work..

SIMPLE FIX

Take off your door, unbolt the amp and pry it open... try by prying the plastic connector on the amp... I broke mine but taped it up.. Then look on the bottom of the PC Board.. You should see some joint on the bottom with black stuff or a cracked joint. All you have to do is resolder it. Worked like a charm for me.

yeah, i usually use two flatheads, you just have to be careful as to where you are prying it off towards, it can go flying pretty easily.

if the amp is making a clicking noise when you hit the switch, then you already know the switch is working. its sending power to the amp. if you have any other friends in the area with [what im assuming is] an s13, bribe them with beer and take thier regulator out for a try.

except that power windows dont have cranks

didnt read all teh replies, but on a USDM s13 RH door, theres a pain bolt inside that fake 'oh-****' handle near the lock/handle. remove the handle. therre will be one inside the black bezel piece (with the window button) under a small rectangle. theres one more covered by a small circle trim piece towards the top of the front of the door (youll see it)

so the o**** handle, power window button piece and the black part behind the lock and door latch lever (pull the lever to the open position, and it just pops outwith all of those removed:

there *might* be one more screw at the back, its been awhile since the last time i took door panels off, now you should start at the bottom of the back of the door, and just pull out , working up to the top of the door and towards the front.

DONT just rip the panel off now, the top is different. with both sides and teh bottom popped off, it should be hanging by the top. now LIFT UP, the whole thing will come free. you might need to deal with wires from speakers or something (my s13s never had stock speakers when i bought them )

now youll plug the window control back in, and move the wondow with it if you can soo you have access to the 2 nuts that hold the glass on (remove the stoppers at the top. youll see what i mean when you try to lift the glass out)

now theres 4 nuts that hold the entire regulator assembly onto the door, then it just lifts out too (so easy, you dont have to try and scissor it out a hole in the side of the door like alot of other cars)

once you get the regulator out, see if the cable pulley assembly works fine. if it does, you can snag just a motor from a junk car... actually, i have one (working RH power window motor) , paypal me $20 and ill ship it to you (48 USA) i had the same problem, except the cable pulley thing was all messed up on mine (there was a piece of wood holding up the window) , the motor works great.

email me tyrannix at gmail with your shipping info and we can get you all set up
