Long time lurker with my first question. We bought the wifes 1995 J30T close to four years ago and it's been bullet proof so far. When we first bought it the rear right window wouldn't roll down and the dealer replaced the motor before we picked it up. A couple weeks ago we were on a trip. I went to roll down the window, and it started to go down, then clunk. I thought it was a strange noise and when I stopped at the gas station I noticed the window was down even further than I had rolled it. I pulled it back up and proped it with a pencil and went on.

After returning home I took the door apart to find the window motor casing had slid down off the windings. Apparently both screws weren't put in well and over 4 yrs the vibrated out.

I'm sure the motor is still good, but the brushes got broke in process. Is there anywhere to get brushes for these window motors? Has anybody found other brushes that will work? TIA

You probably won't find a place that will sell you just the brushes or repair the window motor for you.

However, my local Advance Auto Parts sells reconditioned J30 window motors for about $55 (provided you give them your old one as core).

I've installed two of these reconditioned (rebuilt) window motors in my J30 and have not had a problem with them. It's been over two years since I installed the first of the two.

They're also guaranteed for as long as you own the car. Not a bad deal. Even if it were to go bad, just take it back and get another one.

BTW - Welcome to NICO. Make sure you check out my J30 website when you have a chance.

Well, about 99% of my J30 knowledge has come from NICO. This is great place to hang out and learn about these cars.
