Not a happy day for my '91 240SX....the passenger window has frozen partially down. It had been acting up for the last couple weeks - slow and intermittant. So I pushed my boneheaded luck and continued to use it until the predictable happened. I live in NW Oregon.........you know - wet.

So I pulled the panel and checked power to the motor at the connector form the switch. 12 volts up and down - checks good. So I figure the motor laid down - which would explain why it had been slow before.

Has anyone ever had luck changing a power window motor on one of these? I can't really even see it with the panel and vapor sheet removed! Does the whole window have to come out???

Any help would be appreciated!

The window does not have to come out but you do need to unboul the bottem of from the mechanism.move the window up or down untill you see the two bolts clamping the glass and loosen. use duck tape to hold up glass from falling down. there should only be 3 bolts holding motor and i think two holding on rail. remove these and your away.

if you want to replace the window regulator then you will have to remove the widow. it will most likely take two 10mm nuts. and once that is removed then it takes 4 10mm nuts. and then pull it out. the main problem that i had with mine is that there is a rubber coupling(or thats what i call it) that holds the main gear on to the slider. if you try to glue it together it wont work. i have tried many times. i jsut replaced it with a maunal regulator. luckally it was on the drivers side so it really doesnt bother me. but if you want to just have it stuck up, wedge a piece of paper between two gears becuase duct tape will leave a sticky residue. paper can be removed ealisy.
