My alternator went out a while ago and my electrical system got messed up pretty bad. I'm working on fixing all the problems as I get time.

My driver's window does not work. I checked the motor and it is working. The passenger side works fine, and I can control it w/ the driver door switch. The passenger door no longer locks/unlocks when I lock the driver's door. I am leaning towards the amp in the driver's door that is causing this. What do you guys think, and is there a way that I can test the amp?

Did everything work fine before the alternator went out?

I don't know how an amp would affect the window and lock, because it should be on a completely different circuit. But it's not the craziest thing I've heard of so I really don't know what to tell ya about that though.

The reason your lock isn't working on the pass side from the driver side is probably because the wiring that sends the signal to unlock the pass door probably isn't functioning properly. Could it be a wire exposed causing a short? It probably isn't a problem with the passenger lock, but an electrical problem with the driver side lock.

Do you have a keyless remote to unlock your doors? Do they both work with that?

Everything worked before the alternator went out. I don't have a keyless entry. Basically a surge went through the electrical system and multiple problems resulted, including a short in a/c somewhere. I was hoping to get the driver window working asap since I don't have a/c and it's starting to heat up outside, and heat from engine bay is coming into the car.

How did you test your window motor?

Had an extra battery and connected the terminals to the motor connector. It went up and down.

All your fuses are good? I'm not very familiar with the electronics in this car yet, but I think it is either going to a fuse, a relay that is not working, or you might have some melted wires because of the "surge"

Let me see if I can find a wiring diagram that will help loads

A wiring diagram would be great. It could def. be melted wires. A fire started in the passenger door after the surge. I'm thinking there's melted wires shorting the a/c since the fuse blows everytime I replace it. I'm not sure what half the connections in the door are for though, so I don't know which ones to check for the window and door locks.
