power unlock button lights

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

When your lights are on, are your power door unlock buttons lit? All the buttons are lit on both the driver and front-passenger door, except for the unlock on my 2008 EX AWD. The lock button is lit. I'm not sure if that's a "safety" feature or not...

Interesting.. I have an 08 and they are lit. Went through the comfort and convenience settings and changing some items made no difference. Good luck!

Same here. Why wouldn't the unlock portion of that button light up?? Usually that is the one you need to use the most..

I need an answer to this as well.

We too thought it was strangely stupid that this Button isn't lit up at Night-time.

I stand corrected... the LOCK is lit up but, yeah, the unlock isn't. I don't have a problem with that since part of the button is lit up and it's just a push downwards to unlock. I had the dealer set the option for unlocking the car when it is in PARK, anyway so I never manually unlock the doors. I think the OP is correct in assuming that it is a safety issue.

I have an 08 and see the same behavior (lock button lit, unlock button not lit). Like kamiguy though, I hardly ever unlock the doors myself. I use the default auto unlock behavior, where the doors unlock when I turn off the engine.

This is still stupid.

In the Winter time, we may have reasons why we want to leave the Engine running and have to get out of the Car.

I see NO safety reasons for why one is not allowed to see the Unlock portion of the Switch at Night-time.

Would someone care to explain why this is a safety issue ??? Anyone ???

I agree that it doesn't make much sense. My guess is that if you see someone running towards your car with a weapon and you want to quickly lock the doors, if you're in a panic you're more likely to hit the lighted button. The times that you need to unlock the door you might not be in a panic (though, maybe after an accident you would be...)
