I have not heard of anyone trying this.....the ebay kit you are referring to looks pretty basic and looks to be best fit for trunk release latches rather than hatches, even though it does say it's suitable for hatches too.
But, I don't think this particular system would work with the Rogue hatch, because it is not a "manual" release hatch, it is electric (i.e. you don't physically push on a lever, you press an electric button which triggers the hatch to open using battery power). It looks like this system just adds an electric actuator to the manual hatch cable to cause it to pop using electric power. It also doesn't add a power close function, which is typcially what I think of when someone mentions a "power hatch". And it probably wouldn't cause the hatch to actually open, all it would do is release the latch, but you'd still have to give it a pull to get it started.
However, for a trunk such as on a Sentra this could be really cool and cheap upgrade, but for an electric hatch vehicle like the Rogue not so much. Good idea though, perhaps there is an aftermarket product that would work with the Rogue, but you can be sure it will be much more expensive than $30....if you find something along these lines please share it with us!!
