now when i lost the motor in my Z last year i had it replaced with a jdm motor. the shop who was doing the work couldnt get my car to fire on all cylinders with the recalled PTU but when they put the PTU from the jdm motor on it fired on all cylinders all of a sudden. the car starts and drives fine (other then loud tapping comming from inside the heads) anyone have an idea why the recalled PTU wouldnt work?

Are you saying you had the old aluminum PTU and it now doesn't work? Is that really surprising, since they were recalled?

because on the recalled one you have to use a jumper and the terminals in the jumper are likley corroded or the terminals are spread so wide they are not making good contact. On the old one you dont use the jumpers and the engine harness is directly connected to the unit
