hey wassup nicoclub ..... finally got a chance to join the forums after purchasing a 1995 s14 .

my question is ..... every gear that i drive in , everytime the rpm climbs to 4.5k , it sounds and feels like its at its peak .

like it reaches 4.5k and cant accelerate no more .

is that the normal shift point for 240s ?

or is there something faulty ?

hope i can get it fixed .

also , what spark plug wires should i use ? thanks

---billy

i'm pretty sure it wont go past 5k .... cause i dont even try cause it feels like its having a hard time to get to that point ....

so if its a MAF problem .... i would need to replace the MAF sensor ??

thanks for your input so far .

on another forum ( Z ilvia.com ) ... they said to check for a vacuum leak ??

if your idle is unstable it could be a vac leak. usually if it's a mafs problem it'll be at 2500 but I've seen the mafs act stupid and cause that 2500 to be other places. any other problems that could give us a better idea of what's going on?

the idle is fine .

i just recently replaced the fuel filter with a genuine NISSAN fuel filter .

i tried pulling the 5th gear position sensor , it still rev limits at 4.5k

i tried pulling 4th & 5th gear position sensor , it still rev limits at 4.5k

i tried disconnecting the battery and holding the brake pedal down for a minute and pump it ..... still rev limits at 4.5k

any other ideas guys ?

what about if your in neutral and revving? still 4.5k? does the engine sounds match the rpms? Maybe your tach is just off?

what about in neutral

could be transmission related possibly. BTW, it's not like our cars do great above 4.5k rpm, yay low end torque.

I have the same problem in my 98 Kouki, the engine just screams at about the same RPM. It hasn't been a big issue for me, at least she runs. If you figure it out let me know.

my 93 feels the same way. The auto transmission in it before slipped, so i never could tell the difference since i wasnt really going anywhere fast. Since I did my 5 speed swap, it seems like it does top out around there.
