is there anything that tells the camshaft position sensor to start reading when the engine first cranks?(like ignition solenoid or something like that) a relay or something like that.

because it seems the ecu is not getting signal from the camshaft position sensor, yet we tested the wires going to it and they seem to be fine.

btw this is on a 97 240sx with an auto>5sp swap, cps used to work fine before puttin in the turbo.

No relay that I'm aware of...wish I could be of more help. We have the wiring diagrams in the FAQ thread.

The sensor gets power as soon as the key gets turned to the run position. It will then output pulses on the white wire each time the slit in the wheel passes the sensor.

By wiring an test light in line with the white sensor output signal, then turning the key to run and cranking the engine by hand you should be able to get it to flash everytime the sensor picks up the wheel slit. This way you'll know if it's working properly.

If that fails, you may need to replace it.

My 91 had that code when my car wouldn't start. I replaced the distributor, where the camshaft position sensor is located, and it started right up.
