the powe steeing pump backet is simply the tensioner for the water pump pulley, i cuently leave mine on even though my entire p/s system was removed. in the future ill take a piece fo string and measure the distance around the water pump and crank pulley, get a belt that big and ether sqeeze it on or unbolt the wate pump pulley and put on that way.

dam, you guys are tough. I tried drifting without p/s, and it really sucks. Sucks even more with wide wheels, and low offset.

Honestly, why would you want to get rid of the power steering? It's not like the whole system weighs that much anyways, and it helps tremendously.

Maybe I'm just missing something...

frees up horsepower. Plus you get used to drivin with out powersteering, i prefer it cause you have more feel for the road.

I'm still wondering what it's like to actually drive without power steering.

Does it feel the same as turning the wheel with the engine off? I tried cruising down the road like that, and let me tell you, it was crazy-stiff!

How much horsepower could it possibly free up? Maybe 5, at best.

Regardless, it's your car, do with it what you wanna do.

I was just stating some advantages, I havent tried driftin yet if anything I would think itd be easier. But it does take some gettin used to not havin power steering but you fall in love with it.
