power sterering

ok so took my s13 to mechanic and what not and he says i need a new power sterring rack. only 580$!!! so i picked up my car cause that is way too much. so since i have access to a full shop i can do it in there (at my school) and order it through the teacher. what i was wondering is how involved it is to replace the power steering rack. any help at all would be good because im sick of oing through a bottle of power steering fluid a week. thankscarl

thats rediculous.......its probaly your pressure hose on top of your pump

what exactly is happening when you steer...does it leak... do you have pressure... is the steerin hard...

It isn't too bad to replace the rack, you will need to unbolt the bushings turn out the out tie rod ends. Remove the inners, and it should come out easy once the lines have been removed (use a flare wrench or you will be very sorry).

ok thanks i already replaced the pressure hose( had a big hole in it) so its still leaking ill try to get into the shop this week and see what i can do.carl
