Can someone give me some information please regarding power steering systems? I have a basic understanding of how they work, but I can't figure out why mine is still making noise. I have just changed the pump and put new fluid in. I replaced some of the hardlines as well on the rack because they were a little bent. It's only a noise when turning obviously.

Thank you for any help.

Make sure that the reservoir is full. The pump running low on fluid is the only thing I know of that makes that kind of noise. Make sure your fluid isn't like syrup also.Fill it up to the top, turn it on, turn the wheel to full lock each way and hold there for about 5 seconds, then repeat until the fluid doesn't go down.Hope that helps.

Yeah, I did this when I first put the new pump in. I've read that people have whining with power steering fluid. That's what I'm using. Anyone had this issue and then have it go away when switching to ATF?

Mine was "whining" for a bit this past month and my husband fixed it. It was the power steering belt coming loose. The nut on the front end of it kept on coming loose, so I had to go get a new belt because I think mine was stretching or something. Now with the new belt, it's all fixed! No more noise!

Yeah, it's definitely not a belt issue. Thanks for your response though!
