Anyone ever had their belt jump off the water pump pulley when putting on a new belt!! I replaced all my belts no problems at all,but the belt keeps coming off the back side of the water pump pulley, like its a little too far foward. When laying under car looking up at the pulleys and belts it looks like the water pump pulley is a little farther foward than the other ones it goes around!!(power steering pump pulley, back grooves of crank pulley, and tensioner. the only thing thats not tightened is the crank pulley, and that doesnt matter because if anything would change from it being tightened it would be worse because it would push belt back even further, which is my problem now!! Pulley looks to be 1/8 to 1/4 inch to far foward. i might have to pull dust shield off of lower section of flex plate and stick a pipe or something in to wedge it.

chris i'm having difficulty wrapping my head around this problem. if the WP pulley APPEARS to be farther forward than the others then it probably is. now for the why. have you changed out the WP recently? could you have gotten something between the WP pulley & flange? can't see how the WP shaft would work it's way forward but i'm not an auto tech. you have read the other post regarding the critical importance of proper CP torque right? i apologise if i am being repetitive but i would hate to hear how you spun a bearing because the CP was not on properly. the oil pump chain is driven by a sprkt. that sits between the CP & the timing chain gears. if you noticed when you had your CP off that the rear of it has a taper. thatb taper is apparently what presses against the OP gear. the OP gear is not keyed to the C. shft. if you already know all of this oh well, didn'tmean to waste your time

94-96 water pump is different than 90-93. they both physically fit, but one has a longer snout than the other (i've forgotten which is which).
